Adventure Guide to the Yucatán, Cancún & Cozumel
by Judy Babcock Wylie
Just in time for winter escapes, we have Adventure Guide to the Yucatán, Cancún & Cozumel by Bruce and June Conord, published by Hunter Travel Guides at $16.95. This book is the winner of a Best Travel Book Award from the National Association of Travel Journalists. It covers flora, fauna, beaches and festivals, such as Our Lady of Izamal in August in the town of the same name, or the Honey Fair in April at Hopelchen. History and geography are covered as well as Mayan culture. One section lists 20 Things Not to be Missed, from the Mayan ruins at Tulum and Chichen Itza to the Colonial cities of Merida and Campeche to the flamingos at Rio Lagartos. Resorts also are described, including the areas of Cancún, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel. This is a big, practical paperback with larger-than-usual typeface and plenty of white space on the page, making it a pleasure to read.
