Three Great Reasons to Visit Munich This Year

Munich began as a monastery, and has evolved into a world class city which is home to the arts and to Oktoberfest. And this year, from June 6 through August 3, it will be celebrating its 850 year anniversary with a summer of festivals. The festivities will kick off with the City Foundation Festival, June 14-15, followed by the Old Town Ring Road Festival, July 19-20, and the Isar Bridge Festival, August 1-3.

The BMW museum in Munich will re-open early this summer with a novel concept that showcases the history of the BMW brand. Vehicles, themes, architecture, design and media design will come together to create an unprecedented exhibition. Visitors will discover enclosed and open exhibition spaces, a configuration of ramps, numerous detailed views and broad vistas, and a series of ever-changing perspectives that will take them by surprise

In December, Porsche fans will get a serious rush from the company's new museum outside of Stuttgart. Not only Porsche sports cars, but also Professor Ferdinand Porsche's early innovations and constructions will be presented in the sophisticated new building. Some cars and models will be presented to the public for the first time. Other attractions include a Classic Workshop, an extended catering service, and a conference area. Until the Grand Opening, the "old" Porsche Museum will still be open.
