Pampering the Way Queen Nefertiti Intended

At the New Angsana Spa in El Gouna

The first Angsana Spa on the Red Sea is now open at the Mövenpick El Gouna Hotel. Stretching over 500 sq metres, the Angsana Spa offers 12 treatment rooms including six double treatment rooms, one shower room, two single treatment rooms, two deluxe spa treatment rooms and a manicure and pedicure room.

Signature treatments include Nefertiti’s Ritual, named after Queen Nefertiti, whose era introduced indulgence and body pampering to Egypt. This 180 minute treatment includes 90 minutes of wave massage followed by a 40 minute Lulur treatment, where turmeric paste is mixed with aromatic floral essence and used to exfoliate the skin and concludes with a 10 minute cooling yoghurt splash.

Massages include Desert Sand (90 mins), where muscle tension is eased with a combination of strokes and light percussion with a sand-filled linen pouch dipped in warm oil and applied to each part of the body consecutively. Alternatively guests can opt for the Ibu’s secret massage (90 mins), a deep tissue massage adapted from traditional Balinese techniques where the therapist uses thumb and palm pressure to soothe aching muscles and relieve tension, or the signature Angsana massage (120 mins).

Angsana Spa embraces the contemporary, holistic and non-clinical tropical garden concept. Drawing on expertise from Banyan Tree Spa, Angsana Spa’s refreshing blend of treatments places special emphasis on the use of natural ingredients such as native flowers, fruits, herbs, spices and plants. Employing aromatherapy and the therapeutic sense of touch, Angsana Spa uses a fusion of techniques from the East to the West to refresh and rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit.
