Nude Airline to Take-Off in Germany

First we saw the nude beaches, which were soon followed by nude tourist resorts.  Now a German travel agency has unveiled what is believed to be the world's first nude only  airline.  The nudist lifestyle is popular in Germany, with this movement being referred to as Freikörperkultur.  In English this means Free Body Culture.

It is fairly well known that a lot of Germans like getting their kit off, and now there is an airline for them.   For those tourists who prefer to travel au naturel, the flight is to be part of a summer day trip which flies from the Eastern German city of Erfurt to the popular Baltic Sea resort, Usedom. 

The travel agency OssiUrlab.de, based in the eastern town of Erfurt, said it will be accepting reservations for a summer nudist day trip to this Baltic Sea island.  Passengers will be allowed to disrobe after boarding the 55-seat jet but will be required to dress before disembarking. The pilot and crew will remain clothed, for safety reasons.

I certainly would see this as a temptation for seeking membership in the Mile High Club, however this is not the case.  Enrico Hess, the agency's managing director, says naturism — which is also known as free body culture — particularly appeals to eastern Germans. The practice resurfaced after the Second World War following a Nazi-era ban. "In the former East Germany, naturist holidays were a much-loved way of spending the best weeks of the year,…We want to make that freedom possible above the clouds too."

The holiday package is scheduled for July 5, and is priced at 499 euros, or about $740.
