Bigger Really Is Better
Especially watching
APPOLLO 13 ON IMAX
By Madelyn Miller
Every day, my
email box is filled with offers to enlarge my penis or my breasts. It is not
something I ever wanted to try.
But IMAX really
does make a difference.
As I watched the
thriller Apollo 13, I felt like I was about to take off into outer space. My
seat seemed to throw me back with the thrusts of the engine. And I wondered
when they were possibly stranded, if I would ever get back to earth. (that
was important because I had another movie screening that night)
Even if you know
how it ended, and you have seen this movie before, seeing it on IMAX is a
whole different experience
A
suspense-filled drama about the extraordinary courage, faith and ingenuity
of three men – and the hundreds more who worked around the clock to bring
them back, Apollo 13 also stars Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Gary
Sinise, and in Oscar®-nominated performances, Ed Harris and Kathleen
Quinlan. The film was originally released in 1995.
From Academy
Award® winners Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, Apollo 13, starring Tom
Hanks, is the first 35mm live action film in motion picture history
to be digitally re-mastered into the IMAX® format. Employing revolutionary,
proprietary IMAX® Digital Re-mastering (DMR™)
technology, Apollo 13 The IMAX Experience will be shown on the
Cinemark IMAX® Theatre screen with unequaled clarity and intensity of image.
Developed as
a total system to re-master 35mm live-action films into 15/70 film format
for exhibition in IMAX theatres, IMAX® DMR™ technology digitally enhances
the image quality of 35mm motion pictures for projection onto giant IMAX
screens. The resulting images are every bit as big, sharp and beautiful as
those of the classic, visually stunning large format films.
Cinemark USA, Inc. operates 278 theatres and 3,014
screens currently in 33 states in the United States, and internationally.
