After the Hurricane

Mexico Boutique Hotels Remain Idyllic Havens

Paradise remains in tact at Mexico's most unique hotels in Puerto Vallarta Area.

Mexico Boutique Hotels reports that, following Hurricane Kenna, its Puerto Vallarta area hotels are operational and in condition to deliver a quality vacation experience to visitors seeking sun, sand and idyllic settings.

Majahuitas Resort, 20 kilometres (13 mi.) south of Puerto Vallarta and Casa Las Brisas, 36 kilometres (22 mi.) north of Puerto Vallarta near Punta de Mita are both in natural settings in isolated areas and were fortunate to experience little or no damage of any consequence.

On the Costalegre, between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo, Mexico Boutique Hotels' Meson Doña Paz (Isla Navidad), El Tamarindo (Cihuatlan), El Careyes, Casas de Careyes (Costa Careyes) and Las Alamandas (Quémaro) were out of the hurricane's reach.

With Puerto Vallarta International Airport resuming operation on Saturday, October 26th, one day after the hurricane, travelers are uninhibited from arriving to the region and enjoying these secluded havens.  Main thoroughfares that were damaged or previously inaccessible in the region have also been reopened.  Interruptions to Internet and telephone services are random and are quickly being restored.

Assessing the situation post-storm, Majahuitas co-owner Margot Sims, reported that their beach actually benefited from the storm as more sand was brought in by the tides, a situation opposite from other pockets along the Costa Vallarta.  Sims commented, "Our guests are comfortable and enjoying our hidden paradise at this moment."

Majahuitas Resort is comprised of eight ocean-view casitas and is located on the margin between jungle and ocean on a romantic cove of golden sand beach.  It is accessible only by marine launch from the small fishing village of Boca de Tomatlan south of Puerto Vallarta. All guests are met by a hotel representative at Puerto Vallarta airport and assisted with transfers to the launch point, then on to enjoy the hospitality of this tranquil and rustic resort.

At the seven-suite Casa Las Brisas, located on Playa Careyeros about two kilometres from the Four Seasons Punta Mita resort and golf course, loss of power was the extent of difficulties as a result of the storm and is now being re-established in this remote community.

All guests destined for Casa Las Brisas receive VIP greeting service at Puerto Vallarta airport and are transported directly to the highly secluded villa-style resort.  All rooms overlooks a long stretch of white sand beach, excellent for body surfing and snorkeling.  The resort is just a 20 minute boat ride from the Islas Marietas, popular for its snorkeling and bird-watching.
