Noche De Flamenco

Edited by Madelyn Miller

TITAS has added world-renowned Spanish dance ensemble Noche Flamenca, who will perform at SMU’s McFarlin Auditorium on February 10 & 11, 2005 at 8:00 PM. This will mark the company’s long anticipated return to Dallas, following their previous TITAS presentation in October, 1999.

TITAS is very excited to be able to offer Noche Flamenca, one of Spain's most successful Flamenco companies. Their mission is to share the sheer passion, spirit and purity of one of the world's most complex and mysterious forms of dance artistry.

Founded in Madrid in 1993 by artistic director Martin Santangelo and his wife, renowned dancer Soledad Barrio, Noche Flamenca maintains the essence, purity and integrity of one of the most complex art forms. Declared, "A Soul-Stirring Tour-de-Force of Theater," by the New York Times, the company's authentic, gritty and passionate performances embody the intimate, unadulterated fire of Flamenco.

Surrounded by the fusion of song and guitar that is Spain's Gypsy tradition, the performance virtually ignites the stage in an aggressive display of intricate footwork, rapid-fire turns, elegant arm movements and piercing expressions. Don’t miss your chance to see this amazing company that has received standing ovations from audiences around the globe!

“The walls, remarkably, did not burst into flame during the performance by Noche Flamenca, a sensational eleven-member dance company from Madrid capable of incinerating all objects in its path.” - San Francisco Examiner
