TITAS PRESENTS CANADA’S FOREMOST MODERN DANCE COMPANY, [bjm_danse].

Edited by Madelyn Miller, the Travellady

“A charismatic group that moves with a carefree lightness that is  personable and delightful.” - The Daily Gazette (Albany)

TITAS welcomes the highly-anticipated return to Dallas of Canada’s premier modern dance ensemble, [bjm_danse] (formerly Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal) on Friday & Saturday, February 2 & 3, 2007 at 8:00 PM at McFarlin Auditorium.

“The dancers are terrific, with lithe bodies, appealing verve andpleasantly distinctive presences.” (The New York Times)

With its new artistic orientation, and its wealth of skills and experience, this explosive contemporary dance company has splendidly followed the path set out by Louis Robitaille, the troupe’s artistic director since 1998. Mr. Robitaille offered this comment about [bjm_danse]’s current works, “Let’s pay tribute to the art of movement, and to the limitless untapped potential of the human body and soul. Put aside your daily life and its vagaries for a time, and let’s celebrate together, through this dance, the beauty within us and within every human being.”

[bjm_danse] is expanding its horizons, offering a form of dance that is vibrant, accessible and interfused with elements of the avant-garde. By featuring works by such choreographers as Crystal Pite, Edgar Zendejas and Rodrigo Pederneiras in its repertoire, [bjm_danse] is continuing to provide a showcase for the leading figures of contemporary dance.

Their TITAS program will feature:

Short Works: 24, choreography by Crystal Pite, original score by Owen Belton.

No Strings Attached, choreography by Mia Michaels, original score by Albert Sterling Menendez.

Les Chambres des Jacques, choreography by Aszure Barton, music by Gilles Vigneault, Antonio Vivaldi, Les Yeux Noirs, the Cracow Klezmer Band.

" Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal is a total joy and totally entertaining. If you ever have a chance to experience them, do! " (The Virginia Gazette)
