Woman on Wine
By Amy Reiley
These days, women are becoming more and more visible in the
wine industry, a business once thoroughly dominated by men. But what inquiring
minds want to know is not how women are breaking the gender barrier, but what
they’re drinking in their down time. (After all, it’s a documented fact that
women have better taste perception than men!)
Lisa Peju of Peju Family Estate Wines:
Folie a Deux Winery Menage a Trois
As the name implies, this rose is sexy. Gewurztraminer gives it a great
perfume, but Syrah adds to its voluptuous body.
Pride Mountain Cabernet Franc
Its been a while since I’ve had it, but Pride sticks out in my mind as one of
Napa’s best Cab Francs, after my family’s, of course!

Perrier Jouet:
Cuivason Carneros Chardonnay
I love this cool climate Chard for its tropical and lime flavors and its mineral
quality.
Mumm Cordon Rouge
I always keep a bottle on ice to pop for company. It has rich, ripe flavors
balanced by its celebratory image.

Forestville Chardonnay
It is the most consistent Chard I’ve found for the everyday drinking price
range. I always keep a bottle in the fridge for company or just unwinding.
Billecart Salmon Brut Rose
This is the perfect treat or self-reward. When served at the right temperature,
its creamy, fruit flavors taste exactly like wild strawberries.

Sauvignon Republic Sauvignon Blanc
Each year, the wine is made in a different region but it’s always great. The
2004, from Marlborough, NZ, has that fresh cut herb flavor and racy acidity.
Three Saints Pinot Noir
Finally, here’s an American PN that’s sexy, smooth, not too full bodied and
great for food. What more could a girl want?
