Heartland explores the inner lives of three Midwestern
sisters, who return to their childhood home in Iowa when they learn their
mother is planning to sell the family farm. Playing the sisters are
Florence Lacey as Kathleen, Jacquelyn Piro as Sara, and Caroline McMahon as
Becca. Also featured in the musical are Jenn Colella, Tad Ingram, J. Robert
Spencer, and Lisa Datz. Musical Director is Larry Yurman, and choreographer
is Michael Lichtefeld.
The Broadway Contemporary Series, presented by Dallas
Summer Musicals, continues with Def Poetry Jam, Feb. 10-15, 2004, at The
Majestic Theatre. Russell Simmons’ lyrical, smart, hilarious, and searingly
honest new show was a true phenomenon on Broadway, with nine gifted, young
poets speaking from the heart about everything from love to sex to
politics. Next, the new national tour of Chicago, the award-winning musical
(6 Tony® Awards including Best Musical Revival, Grammy Award for cast
recording, and still SRO in its 7th year on Broadway) comes to the Music
Hall at Fair Park Feb. 24-29, 2004. Produced by Tony® Award winners Barry
and Fran Weissler, and under the direction of Tony® Award winner Walter
Bobbie with choreography by Tony® Award winner Ann Reinking, in the style of
the legendary Bob Fosse, Chicago features the music and lyrics of John
Kander and Fred Ebb, with book by Mr. Ebb and the late Bob Fosse.
Then Nunsense 20th Anniversary All-Star Tour comes to
the Majestic Theatre Mar. 30-April 4, 2004. The Little Sisters of Hoboken
are back, starring five of America’s best-loved comediennes: Kaye Ballard,
Georgia Engel, Mimi Hines, Darlene Love, and Lee Meriwether, in the
award-winning hit musical comedy. With all the beloved songs and dances
along with new show-stopping material, this is the show the New York Times
called “Habit-forming.”
