Carlos Camarena

Master Distiller, El Tesoro® De Don Felipe Tequilas

In 1937, Don Felipe Caramena began the La Alteña distillery and created El Tesoro, one of the first tequilas of exceptional quality.

Today, Don Felipe’s son, Carlos Camarena, remains faithful to his late father’s time-honored production methods, as the master distiller of the world’s most splendid tequilas.

Carlos wanted to be a musician. But instead he uses the skills of blending the high notes at the La Altena distillery.

La Alteña is the last distillery of its kind where tequila is made the same way it was in the early 1900s.  El Tesoro is the only tequila in the world that is double-distilled to proof without water added.

La Alteña distillery stands high up in the mountains of Jalisco, Mexico.  This is where they grow the state’s finest  ingredients, and meticulously handcraft every bottle of El Tesoro.
