The Wow factor of Momix  and some Crazy Blue Men

by Madelyn Miller, the TravelLady

On September 10 and 11, TITAS, in association with the AT&T Performing Arts Center, will present

MOMIX, whose mesmerizing performances have been thrilling audiences for years. Always a TITAS

favorite, MOMIX will perform its newest creation, Botanica, for the first time in North Texas.

For a quarter century, MOMIX has been celebrated for its ability to conjure up a world of surrealistic images using props, light, shadow, humor and the human body.

Beautiful and enthralling, Botanica features an eclectic score ranging from birdsongs to Vivaldi. It follows the rhythms of the seasons, changing the shape of life on Earth and the passing of a day. The performance is enhanced by spectacular costumes, video projections and giant puppetry.

MOMIX founder Moses Pendleton has been celebrated as one of America’s most innovative choreographers and his company has performed in dozens of countries throughout the world.

Tickets for MOMIX range from $19 to $125.

I have been a loyal fan of Momix for years.

Seeing the World in Blue

I was an early adapter of The Blue Man Group. I saw it at a theatre near Cooper Union in the Village in New York. We were vacationing in New York with our children and from the preview blurbs thought the show might be more fun for our pre-teen children than a serious drama.

They loved it. I loved it. And I have been a fan ever since.

About two years ago, I had a chance to see the show in Las Vegas. The concept had evolved to include Pyrotechniques and was more graphically exciting but still had the “WHAT NEXT?” factor that made the show so unique. I can’t wait to see this latest show.

Blue Man Group

From September 14 through 26, Blue Man Group will stage its wildly popular theatrical show and concert at the AT&T Performing Arts Center. People of all ages agree that Blue Man Group is an intensely exciting and outrageous show that leaves the audience in a blissful, euphoric state. Combining comedy, music and technology, Blue Man Group produces a totally unique form of entertainment.

The New York Times has called the show “One of the most delightful performance pieces ever staged.” E!

Entertainment exclaimed, “Blue Man Group is what every live performance aspires to be.” Tickets range

from $25 to $150.
