Remember that the favorable exchange rate means it is an even better bargain. You get about $1.40 Canadian for each U.S. dollar.

Culture

1. If you have time to explore museums, the Montreal Museums Pass admits you to 17 museums. Most of the museums offer free guided tours; ask about their schedules.

Shopping

2. If you are a shopping maven, get Sandra Phillips' book, SMART SHOPPING MONTREAL for insider tips on the best deals and outlets. Find great prices on everything from furs to food.

Dinner

3. Look for prix fix meals. A favorite of mine was at Cafe-cine Lumiere which offered soup or salad, mussels and fries plus a beer for $11.95 Canadian (which is less than $10 U.S. dollars) and you get to watch free movies, too.

Or try "Nickles" a funky dinner that offers a second entree for only 5 cents. It's great if you are hungry or have a companion with similar tastes.
