EXPERIENCE “THE EIGHTH WONDER OF THE WORLD”

It's the "path between the seas." It's the "Eighth Wonder of the World." It's one of the most spectacular and treasured cruising experiences: The Panama Canal. This year marks the grand finale of 85 years under United States management for the "Big Ditch" joining the Atlantic and Pacific. And, this fall, Holland America Line is offering travelers "two for one" savings on luxury cruises transiting the Canal on board the 1,214- passenger sister ships ms Nieuw Amsterdam and ms Noordam.

Holland America Line guests will spend a full day in the transit, marveling at one of man's most remarkable engineering feats and learning its epic story from a Canal historian.  On either side of the canal await the mystique of foreign ports, historic whispers from Mayan ruins to the Spanish Main, fascinating eco-tours and shore excursion adventures. A daylong call at Holland America's popular private island paradise, Half Moon Cay, Bahamas, highlights most Canal cruises.

Holland America's special 50 percent per person savings apply to the following cruises:

A 17- or 14-day trans-Canal cruise on board the Nieuw Amsterdam from Vancouver or Los Angeles to Tampa, departing Vancouver on Sept. 23 and Los Angeles on Sept. 26. With the 50 percent savings, per person, double-occupancy cruise fares start at just $1,765 (CDN$2,719) from Los Angeles; and $1,950 (CDN$3,014) from Vancouver, including port charges and taxes.

A 17-day trans-Canal cruise on board the Noordam from Vancouver to Ft. Lauderdale departs Sept. 24. With 50 percent savings, double-occupancy cruise fares start at just $2,109 (CDN$3,014) per person, including port charges and taxes.
