RECIPE FOR A GREAT VACATIONKEA LANI HOTEL CHEF'S ON TOUR
by MADELYN MILLER
MAUI, HAWAII.........Here are the ingredients for a delicious vacation: World renowned chefs, cooking classes and tastings, and celebrated winemakers. All taking place amidst sunny days, starry nights and swaying palms.
Combine the ingredients. Place in an exquisite setting and stir with a tropical breeze. Garnish with a generous portion of aloha and serve with passion. This is what happens at the Gran Chefs on Tour at the Kae Lani Hotel on Maui. Each month a different pairing of chefs, usually one Hawaiian, creates masterpieces of fusion cuisine. We enjoyed famous French chef Roger Verget and Sam Choy, a native Hawaiian chef who makes miracles with spam. An unusual combination of classic and creative but it was a match that worked well. Dean Ferring of the Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas kicked off this year"s tour. But the entire lineup of chefs are drawn from the all-stars. Between meals, you can enjoy great snorkeling and swimming. All the Kae Lani suites have kitchens, but with food like this, you'll never want to use them. We did try the Pacific Cafe Restaurant because it was rated the top restaurant in Maui. And it was certainly worthy of that designation. Lots of native dishes and spectacular deserts, We expect that soon Hawaii will be as famous for its food as it is for its beaches and sunsets. Best way to get to Hawaii is on Delta, and you'll enjoy great food enroute to get your palate ready. We believe food and wine fests are one of the best ways to learn about the cuisine of a region . You get a chance to sample the showpieces dishes, and Chefs on Tour at the Kae Lani is of the best in Hawaii. For more information call 800-659-4100 Back to TravelLady Magazine |
