THE COUCH POTATO SHOPPING GUIDE

By Madelyn Miller

If you'd rather shop than do anything else, all you need is a computer. You can shop round the clock, around the world. All from the comfort of your favorite easy chair.

Here are a few of my favorite sites to get you started:

http://www.dealaday.com Great prices on famous brands

http://www.samplesale.com If you are in the ten cities they cover, you are in luck. Interesting reading, even if you can't get there.

http://www.salesandbargains.com This is based on the wonderful column in New York magazine, expanded to other large cities

http://www.boulevards.com Funky, alternative shopping

http://www.landsend.com Check this one often. Prices keep going down. Lowest prices come on Saturday.

http://www.ebay.com  Better than the Home Shopping Network. You can pick your own price.

http://www.travelsmith.com Too busy to shop for that last minute travel item? You can get almost anything imaginable and things you never thought of from Travelsmith

http://www.designeroutlet.com  You can save a lot of money here, but that is partly because the prices are so high to start with. There is a good column on trends and this has some very upscale, up to the minute fashions.

Some site suggestions submitted by Dave Shultz...

http://www.autobytel.com/ New and Used cars.

http://www.greatfood.com/  Exotic and not so exotic eats from around the world.  They even have a Comfort Food section.

http://www.zdnet.com/computershopper/  The best computer comparison and shopping guide on the web.

http://www.amazon.com  Nobody beats their selection of books.  I just got three books yesterday on Tree Houses (not for kids)

http://exciteclassifieds.netscape.com  Classified ads for everything!!!!

http://www.godiva.com/  Need I say more.  What Chocoholic could resist?

http://mb1.musicblvd.com  Might be better than Amazon for Music.

http://www.hotcoupons.com/  Downloadable coupons for your geographic area.

http://www.buysafe.com  Something for everyone.  Lots of variety.

http://www.globe-mart.com/  Anything electronic plus other goodies.
