EXPERIENCE A HAWAII
ONCE RESERVED FOR ROYALTY

Aston Keauhou Beach Resort
announces the opening of the new Kalona Salon and Spa

Perched at the edge of sparkling Kahaluu Bay, the newly renovated Aston Keauhou Beach Resort gives visitors a chance to relax and rejuvenate just as the ancient alii, or royalty, did centuries ago at the Kalona Salon and Spa. The spa, located in the heart of the 10-acre resort, offers the best in modern beauty, wellness, and bodywork, with touches of ancient Hawaiian healing practices that have lent the Keauhou area a special significance.

In addition to a wide selection of traditional salon services, the Kalona Salon and Spa offers hotel guests luxurious rejuvenation packages, designed especially for relaxation and well being. These packages offer a combination of massage and aromatherapy, combining natural herbs, sea salts and oils to release the body's energy and promote healing. Several different massage methods are available, including deep tissue, Swedish, and shiatsu, as well as the traditional Hawaiian bodywork practice known as lomilomi. Kalona Salon & Spa features outdoor and seaside massages. Imagine a complete surrender to the senses, listening to the gentle waves alongside one of the most beautiful bays in the world.

And that's just the beginning. Kalona's specially trained professionals help visitors unwind and purify with a variety of body wraps, each with their own healthful benefits--removing toxins, exfoliating, polishing and nourishing the skin. Dewey-Fields' newest service, "Hot Stone Therapy," uses smooth stones to warm the body's different chakras, areas of the body that correspond to certain spiritual and physical energies. First oil is applied to the skin; then, smooth stones (heated to a perfect body-warming temperature) are placed at each chakra and gently massaged. This treatment is beneficial to the joints and muscles, perfect for athletes and those experiencing repetitive motion stress. Like a hot oil treatment but more focused, Kalona's Hot Stone Therapy is an experience not to be missed.

Even ordinary manicures and pedicures at Kalona are transformed into wonderful healing experiences, focusing attention on some of the most forgotten, and most important, areas, our hands and feet. Incorporating aromatherapy for relaxation, all Kalona treatments work to sharpen awareness on areas ignored in day-to-day lives.

It's the local medicinal plants, herbs and products that Dewey-Fields carefully selects from the surrounding communities that are most proudly featured at Kalona Salon & Spa. Big Island ti leaves--abundant throughout the island chain and brought as one of the Polynesian's staple plants on their journey from Tahiti eons ago--are used for Kalona facials, helping to remove toxins from the skin. Custom-made Aqua Polish uses local sea salts, as well as nutrient-rich seaweed, grown at the Big Island's own ocean-research facilities.
