GET CARRIED AWAY ON BUDDY BOMBARD’S
SWISS ALPINE BALLOON JOURNEY
Imagine drifting through the sunny, pristine mountain air amidst the
stunning snow-covered Alps, during the premiere flying months of January or
February. This fantasy can be more than a floating dream, if you make
reservations now to stretch your wings with Buddy Bomard’s Swiss Alpine Balloon
Journey.
Six passengers fit comfortably in each of the decorated blue balloons and
served an elegant picnic lunch while aloft, complete with French wine. In
January, the departure dates are the l8th and 26th, (9 days/8 nights) $11,471
per person. Both departures are timed to coincide with the 22nd anniversary of
the Chateau d'Oex International Alpine Balloon Festival, which includes 65
colorful balloons, invited from all over Europe.
Buddy Bombard's balloons fly in formation with the other 65 balloons. It's
a "Winter Carnival" with continuous entertainment, including
precision flying demonstrations, parachute teams and hang gliders performances.
Three shorter trips, (6 days/5 nights) for $7,828 per person will depart
February 3, 8 and 13. The three and a half-hour Alpine aerial tour is the
center of each day's activity.
On all trips Le Grand Chalet, a charming 4-star hotel in Gstaad is home
base. After landing in the afternoon, there is time to relax and for dinner you
are treated to a delicious meal with wine in one of Gstaad’s best restaurants
each evening.
Buddy Bombard has been flying balloons for 28 years and 23 years ago he
took some friends on a two-week tour of France. They explored Champagne,
Burgundy and the Loire Valley with low level balloon flights visiting and
dining with his many friends, each landing warranted champagne for all, a
tradition which started with the first ever balloon flight in 1783. Buddy's
first trip was a success, leading to the creation of The Bombard Society. June
1999 marked the Society's 10,000th balloon landing.
An inveterate traveler and bon vivant himself, Buddy Bombard has a taste
for luxury which reflects in the choice of accommodations and gourmet fare,
whether aloft or on the ground. You often dine in the castles or homes of his
many friends. The Summer - Fall 2000 journeys are scheduled from late May to
mid-October: The Loire Valley, Burgundy and Champagne and Tuscany, in time for
the Palio in Others include Siena, Prague, Salzburg, Switzerland and Turkey.
The trips vary in length from 5 days/4 nights to 10 days/9 nights and in price
from $5,988 to $11,651 per person double occupancy.
While ballooning, "aerial nature walking" highlights the day's
program, with much time spent sightseeing on the ground with excellent guides.
The 9-foot high colorful balloons are a source of excitement for residents who
usually gather to meet and talk with you when you land. Enjoy a private
European experience with Buddy Bombard.
