The Outrigger Waikiki's "Kalakaua Experience" is a series of monthly lectures and collectible exhibits. The program is named in honor of Hawaii's last reigning king, David Kalakaua. Known as the Merry Monarch, King Kalakaua was instrumental in the rebirth of Hawaiian music, dance, and other cultural activities that had been banned by his predecessors in deference to the religious beliefs of the early missionaries.

All of the "Kalakaua Experience" monthly collectible exhibits are free and open to the public. Exhibits are held in the hotel's upper lobby from 11a.m. until 4 p.m. $3.00. Validated event parking is available.
