ANOTHER GOOD REASON TO GO SHOPPING IN NEW YORKNYC Permanently Eliminates Sales Tax on Clothing and
Footwear
New York, already one of the best shopping cities in the
world, got even better as the sales tax on clothing and footwear costing less
than $110 was eliminated. Savings for the average shopper will be significant.
The sales tax was at 8¼%, comprised of 4% New York State sales tax and 4¼% New
York City tax. "The elimination of the sales tax for clothing and
footwear under $110 is fantastic news for visitors and New Yorkers alike,"
said Cristyne F. Lategano, President & CEO of NYC & Company — the
Convention & Visitors Bureau. "By encouraging people to come into the
city to shop it will also have a significant impact on New York City's
