OceanFestThis year's most exciting Scuba Diving Event
Explore the under sea world of scuba diving for the first time on world famous Waikiki Beach in front of the Outrigger Reef Hotel. "We expect over 1,000 Hawaii visitors and residents to participate in this year's premier discover diving event - Outrigger's Hotels and the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Dive-O-Rama," said Chris Dacus, marketing representative for Outrigger Hotels. Outrigger Hotels is working with over 30 dive shops in the Hawaiian Islands to ensure everyone goes diving. The four-day Dive-O-Rama event will run from 9 am to 3 pm on 2,3,4 and 5 June 1999. "Waikiki Beach has more than 3,000 people on the beach during the day * surfing, kayaking, swimming or relaxing. Outrigger Hotels OceanFest includes world championships for several ocean sports. Catch lifeguards representing Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Canada, Great Britain, California, Florida, New Jersey, and Hawaii battle for the title of "best in the world" on kayaks, paddleboards, and even outrigger canoes! Watch the finish of the grueling, 35-mile open ocean endurance paddle contest completed by kayakers and one-man canoes in the Starbuck's Molokai Challenge. Marvel at the skill and stamina of ocean ironmen and women in the 6-mile Outrigger's Waikiki King's Race. Plus there are awesome surfing competitions for kids too. Take a surfing lesson or ride a canoe with Hawaii's famed beach boys. Make a splash at Hawaii's newest water attraction. Help clean up your favorite beach. Let it rip with leading edge bands at the Beach Blast Concert. Catch a resort and surf wear fashion show, enjoy a great meal or an extra special value at participating OceanFest restaurants and shops.
