MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY NAMED FIRST 'PATRON SAINT' OF SAMBA ROOM

The Samba Room, a Cuban bar and Latin cafe located in Dallas' trend-setting Travis Walk, names Matthew McConaughey as the restaurant's first "patron saint." Allegedly caught boogying au naturel in his Austin home with little more than a pair of percussion instruments, McConaughey shares two common passions with the Latin Fusion cuisine restaurant - bongo drums and late night revelry.

"We just couldn't resist," said Samba General Manager Chuck Przybylinski. "The bongo drums are part of our logo, symbolizing the restaurant's Latin American roots and Samba Room is one of the few Dallas restaurants with late night service until 2 a.m CT.  The fact that Matthew McConaughey apparently shares our appreciation for the instrument and after-hours diversion calls for recognition."

Although the well-known actor is welcome at the restaurant any time, Samba Room management would like to assure patrons that their no shoes, no shirt, no service policy will be strictly enforced. As the first "patron saint" of Samba Room, McConaughey may enjoy Chef Phil Butler's Latin Fusion Cuisine "on the house."  "We didn't know how to honor Matthew, then it hit us - no pockets," said Chef Butler.

From atmosphere to menu, Samba Room is an ambient combination of casual and sophisticated put to a Latin beat. Mambo dance rhythms, chile-laden, mango-infused aromas, palm trees and white tablecloths accent the dining room and a serpentine, cocktail bar area that play host to both diners enjoying Chef Butler's creative Latin cuisine and guests who attend simply to be seduced by the Latin aura, beats and ambiance.

The reasonably priced menu gives patrons a "tasteful" lesson in Spanish and Portuguese with English translations of the dishes.  Selections include large plates, small plates, sandwiches and desserts.  Open for Sunday brunch, dinner and late night, Samba Room is one of the few Dallas restaurants serving dinner until 1 a.m. CT on weekends, with bar service until 2 a.m. CT.

Samba Room is located in Travis Walk, just south of Knox Street, at 4514 Travis #132, Dallas, Texas. Reservations are suggested for dinner.
