Boys Will be Boys...
Except When They are Dancing Girls
By Madelyn Miller
LES BALLETS TROCKADERO DE MONTE CARLO, or TROCKS, as
they are affectionately known, began in 1974 to perform parodied classical
ballet. The result is sensational—a company of men donning the costumes of
villains, swans, and Victorian ladies while dancing en point. The TROCKS
prove that the men, regardless of their large frames and feet, can also
conquer the moves that a female ballerina is known for.
TITAS 2002-2003 Dance Season concludes with the
internationally acclaimed all-male troupe LES BALLETS TROCKADERO DE MONTE
CARLO, Friday and Saturday, April 25th and 26th at 8PM at SMU's McFarlin
Auditorium. The company brings to the TITAS stage a blend of ballet and
comedy that is unparalleled. The Boston Globe praised their ability to “nail
the moves and mannerisms before they skewer them.”
The program will include a selection from Act II from
Swan Lake, in which the wizard and the prince fight for the hand of the Swan
Queen, Go for Barocco, Dying Swan, Humpback Horse, and other works. For more
