Travel Photography Contest

All Photographers, Including Kids, Are Welcome

With prizes of trips, cameras and great hotel vacations, local retailer Samy’s Camera has partnered with TravelStore’s VacationFest 2003 travel show in presenting a travel photography contest open to all amateur photographers.  The contest will have six prizewinners and all finalists’ images will be on display at VacationFest 2003 on March 9, 2003 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium when the winners are announced.

The travel photos will be categorized and judged in five areas defined as The Five Senses: Sense of Place, Sense of Culture, Sense of Humanity, Sense of Humor and Sense of Innocence which is for photographers under the age of 18.  Entry forms are available at Samy’s camera stores in Los Angels, Pasadena, Venice, and Santa Barbara.

Prizes range from the five-day Hong Kong Vacation Grand Prize, courtesy of Korean Air and the Harbor Plaza Hong Kong Hotel, to a two-night stay at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, to three separate digital cameras, and a 35 millimeter camera provided by Samy’s.

VacationFest is being produced for the fourth year and is a consumer show featuring “The Best in Travel” with airlines, destinations, cruise lines and travel companies represented.  The 2003 show will also feature veteran speakers and travel authors, “On Stage Alaska” show, digital photography workshops presented by Samy’s staff and a cooking demonstration stage with premiere Italian chefs headed by LA’s own Celestino Drago.
