I Slept Under Joe D’Maggio

But I Never Scored

By Madelyn Miller

Guests familiar with American baseball and cinema, will be interested in knowing the Radisson Lexington Hotel in New York houses a penthouse suite that served as the residence for Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio during the 18 seasons he played for the New York Yankees as well as during the time he was married to movie star Marilyn Monroe.

I never met him. In fact, I can honestly say I did not spend any time with Joe in the Centerfield Suite.

But recently, I got to sleep in a wonderful room just a few floors below.

The Centerfield Suite itself includes a living room, dining area, main bedroom, large master bathroom, kitchenette (including refrigerator) and a terrace that offers a memorable view of midtown Manhattan from 18 stories high.  The suite is adorned with granite, marble and mahogany furniture, and features nostalgic, not-often-seen photos of Joe DiMaggio on and off the field.
