A Memorial Vacation of Health Education and
Music
At the 2004 Sun Valley Mountain Wellness
Festival
As winter melts into spring, Sun Valley transforms
itself from a world-class ski resort to a center for holistic learning and
self-exploration with the 7th Annual Sun Valley Mountain Wellness
Festival. Held over Memorial Day Weekend at the Sun Valley Mountain Resort
(May 28-31, 2004), this year’s festival will inspire changes for a
healthier life with more than 50 hands-on workshops and a kick-off address
by internationally-acclaimed author, Marianne Williamson.
Williamson’s interactive lecture, Healing Ourselves,
Healing the World, will demonstrate how to identify and change unhealthy
reactions to everyday challenges in order to find a more spiritual and
graceful life. “We are excited to have such an acclaimed speaker as
Marianne Williamson to kick off this year’s festival,” says Festival
Director Melissa Elkins. “The primary goal of the festival is to offer
access to renowned, credible practitioners in interactive and one-on-one
settings.”
The festival is rich with opportunities for attendees
to learn, practice and use wellness principles and products. With more
than 50 hands-on workshops that cover various aspects of spiritual,
emotional, and physical wellness topics, attendees can find sessions on
everything from Feng Shui, Ayurveda and hormone replacement therapy to
astrology, homeopathy and nutrition. New to this year’s festival is a
movement studio with a series of yoga, Pilates and qigong classes.
In between workshops and movement classes, attendees
can learn directly from practitioners at the Demonstration Stage, sign up
for bodywork at the Hands on Hall, purchase wellness products at the Exhibit
Hall or engage in a walking meditation at the Labyrinth. On Monday, the
festival will offer opportunities for attendees to take part in specialized,
intensive workshops offered by several workshop speakers.
The festival will also host several other speakers and
entertainers:
Dr Diana Schwarzbein, founder of the Schwarzbein
Principle for health and wellness
Alex Grey, world-famous artist and painter
Byron Katie, a renowned spiritualist
Lauren Artress, leader in labyrinth meditation
Shanti Shanit concert, ancient and modern music layered
with Sanskrit
The cost of the festival is $35 for two days of
workshops, movement classes, the Demonstration Stage, the Labyrinth, the
Exhibit Hall and the Hands On Hall. Tickets for speakers and the music
concert range from $15-40 for regular seating and $50-$100 for VIP seating.
Monday workshops begin at $20. An online brochure with a list of all
