Palate Pleasing Package Offered For Connoisseurs

Please your palate this June 10 - 13  at the Newport Beach Food and Wine Festival to be held at The Balboa Bay Club & Resort in Newport Beach, California. The event will showcase fine wines and Epicurean cuisine from around the world. Connoisseurs attending the Newport Beach Food and Wine Festival will enjoy an unforgettable weekend of creative seminars, fine wines, cuisine, spirits and cigars at the luxurious waterfront resort.

The Balboa Bay Club & Resort is the only full-service resort on the water in Newport Beach. The 160-room public hotel offers casually elegant accommodations, destination dining, along with state-of-the-art spa and fitness facilities. With the Platinum Palate Package Guests awake to views of the glistening bay before participating in the tasty events held throughout the festival. After a night of dining delights they can rest soundly on the inviting feather-top beds.

The Platinum Palate package offered by the picturesque Balboa Bay Club & Resort includes three night stay for two in an elegant Deluxe Bayview room with two all access passes to the events and seminars at the festival. Guests receive exclusive entrance to the hosted cocktail kickoff, and a signed poster by festival artist Michael Bryan. They can relax and enjoy two Detox Massages in the Spa at the Balboa Bay Club. Breakfast is available each morning for two in the First Cabin restaurant or via room service. Complimentary Valet parking or Limousine pickup and drop off services are available within 50 miles of the resort. Guests have the option of an early check in and late check out included in this all-inclusive package for two being offered at $3500, including taxes.

The Balboa Bay Club & Resort’s culinary team will preside over the events that includes distinguished mixologist, cigar expert, winemakers, and chefs. Proceeds from the festival, including a wine and art auction will benefit the Jean-Louis Palladin Foundation and The Balboa Bay Club’s 1221 Club scholarship fund.   

Let The Festivities Begin

Thursday, June 10th, Master mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim will share the secrets of concocting the perfect cocktail. At 8pm Guests can attend a Cocktail kickoff by the sparkling bay and groove to the calypso music on the promenade of the resort. Signature cocktails will be available by master mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim, and serve as the ultimate beginning to the festival.

Friday, June 11th, Chef and author Michael Ginor of Hudson Valley Foie Gras will hold a cooking demonstration. Complementing the cuisine will be a tasting of fine dessert wines from around the world. Participants at the Chardonnay Challenge will judge the similarities and contrasts between California’s best Chardonnay and Burgundy’s finest wines between 4:30-6:00 PM. After 6pm guests can take festive walk around tasting on the beach and lawn includes enticing gastronomic offerings and wines from the region of Spain.

Saturday, June 12th between 9:30-10:30 AM participants can taste wine from a variety of different glass shapes to experience how the shape of the glass influences both the aroma and taste of various wines.  As part of the seminar each participant will receive a set of four Riedel Vinum glasses to take home. After this event until Noon, Winemaker Jeff McBride of Napa Valley’s Conn Creek Winery will lead an hands on wine blending seminar. Attendees will walk away with a wine of their very own creation. 

Afternoon Delights

Lunch will be held between 12:00-2:00 PM with Winemaker and owner Hubert Trimbach and Alsatian. Chefs’ Yvon Goetz of the Ritz Carlton, Laguna Niguel and Jean-Marc Weber of the California Club will prepare a feast reflecting their native region of France. Max McCalman will help guests understand and enjoy the unique pleasures of delicious cheeses between 2:30-4:00 PM.. Beginning at 4:30-6:00 PM guest learn a bit of history and the unique qualities of the winery while tasting Cabernets from the 2002 vintage, followed by a vertical tasting of the 1995 through 1999 vintages.

Next, guests will dine at grand showcase fit for an evening along the shore. The enticing evening showcase includes over 50 of the world’s finest wineries paired with the culinary creations by the chefs of The Balboa Bay Club & Resort.  A silent auction of large wine bottles and the signature festival painting by artist Michael Bryan will benefit the Jean-Louis Palladin Foundation for culinary arts and The Balboa Bay Club’s own 1221 Club.

The Finishing Touch

Sunday, June 13th will begin at 9:30-10:30 AM with the delectable tasting of the variety of caviar and delicate triple smoked sturgeon along with Champagne. Starting at 11:00 AM-2:00 PM a tasting of the best of the bubbly can be enjoyed along the elegant setting overlooking the water. Author Richard Carlton Hacker, a cigar and spirits expert, will close out the festivities at 3:00 PM with a selection of premium cigars paired to cognacs, single malt whiskeys and port wines.
