Luxury and Adventure to the Extreme

Latir Mountain Ranch, Taos, New Mexico

Want to take your next vacation to new heights?  Look no further - or more vertically - than the Luxury Adventure Experience at Latir Mountain Ranch from El Monte Sagrado Living Resort & Spa™.  Spread across 6,500 acres in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Taos, Latir is an altitudinous outpost combining luxury with the great outdoors, making it the perfect destination for "adventurers" who still like their creature comforts!

An invigorating getaway like no other, Latir's Luxury Adventure Experience launches in June 2005.  Accommodations range from a magnificent guesthouse to stunning teepees.  At "Base Camp" (8,000 feet), Latir's Main House offers relaxed yet luxurious accommodation, while the Ranch House is a more casual affair with an authentic "home on the range" atmosphere.  More adventurous guests can travel by helicopter to "High Camp" (11,000 feet) to stay in one of Latir's three luxury teepees.  This experience is "far from rustic," with a luxurious mountain cabin offering many of the comforts of home - including bathrooms and showers, gourmet meals, one-to-one yoga classes, spa treatments, llama trekking, hiking and more. Latir is also home to the third largest and only certified organic yak farm in the U.S.  (Two within the free-range herd have even been personally blessed by the Dalai Lama!)

Guests choosing Latir's Ultimate Luxury Adventure Experience get started with a custom-designed Taos Altitude Adjustment Treatment at El Monte Sagrado's renowned Living SpaŽ. This therapy includes pre-trip instructions on breathing techniques to prepare you for the high-altitude, a welcome tea of specially blended herbs to aid altitude adjustment, and a 90-minute treatment including stretching, self-care acupressure and a specialized adjustment massage.

The "High Camp" Ultimate Luxury Adventure Experience includes:

  • First night's stay in a Luxury Suite at El Monte Sagrado.

  • Teepee accommodation and three gourmet meals per day.

  • Activities such as private yoga, spa treatments, and nature hikes (tailored to guests' preferences).

  • Round-trip helicopter transportation to "High Camp" (additional cost).

  • Taos Altitude Adjustment Treatment at The Living SpaŽ.

  • Prices start at $2,000 USD per person/per day (three-night minimum stay).

Alternatively, guests can choose The "Base Camp Retreat," which includes:

  • First night's stay in a Luxury Suite at El Monte Sagrado.

  • Accommodation in the Main House or the slightly more rustic Ranch House.

  • Three gourmet meals per day.

  • Activities such as fly fishing, llama trekking, horseback riding.

  • Prices start at $1,200 USD per person/per day for the Main House and $525 per person/per day for the Ranch House (three-night minimum stay).
