HIP SIPS is a guide to serving cocktails with style

Reviewed  by Madelyn Miller

Leave it to two savvy women to write about classy cocktails. Start with

  1. Master Mixologist LUCY BRENNAN  who  owns Mint and 820, a popular restaurant and bar in Portland, Oregon.

  2. SHERI GIBLIN, a San Francisco–based food and lifestyle photographer. Her work includes A Passion for Ice Cream and Grilled Cheese.

  3. Add lots of imagination and gorgeous visuals (if you have had too much to drink, you could always just look at the book and fantasize)

“One of the top ten mixologists in the country” (Bon Appetit), Lucy Brennan shakes up the cocktail world with more than 60 refreshing drinks brimming with exotic combinations of ripened fruits, herbs, flavorings, and spirits.

Guava Cosmos and Vermont Martinis add a new twist to cocktails at six. Dinner parties are better when Mr. 820, a martini as smooth as James Bond, is invited. And a frosty bowl of passion fruit–infused citrus punch will jump start a typical Sunday brunch.

Add a few recipes for fruit purées and infused vodkas, the author’s signature garnishes (like lollipop rims, citrus twists, and berry picks), and a waterproof clear vinyl jacket, and this handy little book will turn the home bar into a hip and happening hotspot.
