The Patchwork Peacocks Parade through
Pigeon Forge during Mountain Quiltfest

by Madelyn Miller, the TravelLady

Traditionally, many women save their best dresses and fine hats for Easter. But in Pigeon Forge, they rarely wait that long. They bring out their family heirloom quilts and patched and pieced wearable art. They proudly display their works on jackets, vests, purses, totes and more  during the Mountain Quiltfest held annually in the middle of March

Wearable Art

I particularly enjoyed seeing the wearable art, on display and on attendees at the Pigeon Forge Mountain Quiltfest. Never had I seen so many works of art displayed on peoples backs. And certain outfits are truly "the talk of the town."

When people saw me taking pictures of many of the clothes, everyone said, "YOu have to see Laurie."

Apparently, Laurie was wearing a dress made entirely of patchwork one-inch squares. Although I never saw Laurie, she is just another reson to go back to the Pigeon Forge Mountain Quiltfest.

A Mountain Quiltfest is produced by the City of Pigeon Forge and co-hosted by the Piecemakers and Sevier Valley Quilters Guilds. And if you aren't able to make it this year, be consoled by the fact that this is an annual event. Think like a quilter. Plan ahead for the next one.
