A Weekend of Western Tradition
With Lyle Lovett and Jo Dee Messina
Copper Mountain goes country Sept. 3-5
during the first annual Copper Country, a celebration of the American spirit
through music, art and western traditions. Lyle Lovett and Jo Dee Messina will
headline the Labor Day weekend while guests enjoy an array of performances from
noon to 6 p.m. each day in Burning Stones Plaza located in The Village at
Copper.
Lyle Lovett, one of the most revered
musicians of his time, will perform Sunday, Sept. 4. Jo Dee Messina will take
the stage on Saturday, Sept. 3. Other performers include: The Del McCoury Band,
The Gibson Brothers Band, The John Cowan Band, Mark Selby, Mountain Heart and
Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band.
The festival will also include more than 25
fine art exhibitors showcasing Southwestern art including painting, sculpture,
photography and jewelry. The art festival will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily
in Copper's new Pavilion, located at the base of the mountain. Additionally,
The Village at Copper will be filled with more than 40 vendors selling original
crafts, clothing, jewelry and more. Horse-whisperers, trick ropers, bull riding
exhibitions and mutton bustin' for the kids will take over the Copper Corral
located in the Beeler Lot adjacent to the Village. Petting zoos and pony rides
round out the weekend for guaranteed family fun.
Copper will also be searching for America's
next country music phenomenon during the first annual "Peak Performer" contest.
All participants must pre-register online by Aug. 15 and submit a CD with one or
two recorded songs. Details and registration are online at

lucky few who are chosen, exclusive auditions will take place Aug. 23, 24 and
31at the world-famous Grizzly Rose in Denver and will be judged by a
Celebrity panel including KYGO
personalities. Twelve semi-finalists will advance to perform during Copper
Country, Sept. 3-5. Copper's "Peak Performer," chosen by the audience on Sept.
5, will be flown to Nashville to stay at the Grand Ole Opry Hotel in preparation
for their audition with the William MorrisTalent Agency.
Copper Mountain is a world-class,
multi-season resort nestled between the Ten Mile and Gore Mountain Ranges just
