INTRIGUE AT THE WILLARD INTERCONTINENTAL AS THE INTERNATIONAL SPY MUSEUM PRESENTS: ESPIONAGE 101 A SPY SCHOOL WORKSHOP

Edited by Madelyn Miller, the Travellady

An action-packed adventure will take place in the storied halls of the Willard InterContinental as former CIA Chiefs of Disguise, Tony and Jonna Mendez put participants of the International Spy Museum’s Espionage 101 - Spy School Workshop through spy paces during this fun and fantastic introduction to the intricacies of espionage.

This first-time special offering, co-sponsored by The Willard InterContinental Hotel in celebration of Willard 2006, the 20th anniversary of the hotel’s re-opening, will take place October 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the luxurious landmark hotel at 1401 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W.   Cost for the class is $65; Members of The Spy Ring and Friends of the Willard: $60; Advance Registration required.

Wit and savvy will be required as participants gather intelligence, conduct surveillance, and peek into the glamorous world of super secret agents in this rare opportunity to blend real spycraft training and the delicious fantasy world of international intrigue, perfect martinis, glamorous men and women, and luxurious sports cars.   The class is based on an “advance intelligence” scenario, which indicates that a certain very elusive, very seductive, and very secret pair of agents will be visiting Washington on an important mission this fall.  Instructors, Tony and Jonna Mendez will assemble an elite team (participants) to determine what the agents’ assignment is and how they can be assisted—or thwarted. Participants will need to blend into the hotel’s swank scene while shadowing suspects in the famed Peacock Alley and listen in for suspicious whispers at the Round Robin Bar.

Tickets are non-refundable and do not include admission to the International Spy Museum.  To register, call 202.654.0930; or purchase tickets in person at the International Spy Museum.  To infiltrate The Spy Ring, the Spy Museum’s membership program, visit spymuseum.org or call 866.SPYMUSEUM.
