Scotland’s Spirit is Heaven-Scent
Edited by Madelyn Miller, the travellady
A perfume inspired by Scotland and its national drink,
whisky, has been created by world-renowned perfumer, George Dodd in his Perfume
Studio in the North of Scotland. The Spirit of Scotland perfume has been
designed in the beautiful North West Highlands, using a blend of natural oils
from many parts of the world, to create the rich and lightly musky aroma.
George,
who moved from Coventry to the Highlands in 1994, said: “I wanted to create the
spirit of Scotland – nature, strength, purity, warmth, with just a hint of
peatiness from the islands. This perfume is designed for a sophisticated and
confident woman to wear.”
Although the perfume does not actually contain whisky, the
blend of ingredients has been chosen to echo the complex smoky tones that are
characteristic of the Scottish island malts.
The nearby, 4-star hotel, Pool House is now working with
the Perfume Studio to provide perfume packages. Consistently listed amongst the
most romantic retreats in Scotland, Pool House is a thoroughly unique refuge on
the seashore of Loch Ewe. Guests taking part in a perfume package will be
supplied with a collection of fragrance materials – the essential ‘language’ of
the day – to create their own perfume. Couples honeymooning at the hotel can
also have a unique perfume created as a reminder or theme of their wedding day.
