Celebrated Dallas Artist Rolando Diaz to unveil his newest body of work, "King of Hearts" with support of other Southside on Lamar Artists

edited by Madelyn Miller, the TravelLady

I live in an artists community. I am surrounded by creative talent. And two of my favorites are doing a special event to highlight Ro Diaz art and ABi Ferrin's designs of fashion with a purpose. Plus other talents--music, sculpture and more

Cuban/American artist Rolando Diaz will unveil his 6th Annual Art Show, with his body of work, "The King of Hearts" on December 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the Janette Kennedy Gallery at SouthSide on Lamar.  Rolando Diaz will also be showcasing the work of surrealist sculptor Hobbes Vincent who encompasses surreal themes touching on the surreal.

Midshow will highlight a live performance by the artist Rolando (Ro) Diaz, an Abi Ferrin fashion show and guest performances by Seth Simmons,  and Jan Strimple.

After guests have previewed the body of work, Rolando invites his guests to experience the arts in full as pianist Seth Simmons will perform his own compositions simultaneously while Rolando Diaz paints a canvas dress designed by Abi Ferrin, worn onstage by Jan Strimple.  In keeping with the King of Hearts theme, Abi Ferrin will unveil her latest dresses with a live monochromatic runway show to complement the performers and tantalize the audience.

Rolando Diaz' work is based on a philanthropic mentality, as the artist himself was born in Havana, Cuba and has seen poverty first-hand.  He has spent his career recalling and capturing images that move people to feel the reality of the plight of those that are less fortunate, while also raising funds through his art for the poor.  A documentary about Diaz, "Recapturing Cuba" has recently been released and show on PBS.

Seth Simmons has had his original compositions scored in feature films, as well as work with some of today's well beloved rock groups.  Seth and Rolando have created Euforia, a traveling show where art and music come together in a moving live performance.

Also featured will be Hobbes Vincent an up and coming surrealist sculptor. Hobbes's creative sculptures are exemplified by an intrinsic inspiration with amazing detail. Not yet announced, Vincent has been commissioned to do a public sculpture for one of the metroplex cities of Dallas.

Jan Strimple, international model, fashion event producer, and philanthropist has supported the careers of many Dallas artists, and is excited to lend her name and time to this event.

Abi Ferrin, 2007 Texas' Top Designer, recently showed her first collection in New York City, and enjoys being a part of artist collaborations such as this.

Esteemed sponsors are The Piano Gallery, Hero's For Humanity Barefoot Wine, SouthSide on Lamar, Jan Strimple, Abi Ferrin, and Euforia Live.

Valet parking will be provided at the Belleview entrance of Southside on Lamar.
