Live Like a Native in
London
By Estelle Plous
Planning a vacation to London next
year?
Planning a trip to London? Forget
about staying in a boring hotel like everyone else does, the smart thing is
to live among the natives in the house or flat of a real Londoner. They’re
not there of course - you have the good fortune to be able to use their
place while they’re away. For 3 or more travelling together this can also
save you lots of money as well!
Coach House London Vacation Rentals
are the leading specialist in short term central London rentals. Most of
their rentals are the properties of Londoners temporarily away the city so
you’ll have the informality, warmth and convenience of a real home rather
than the stiffness of a hotel or the impersonality of a serviced apartment.
They have over 60 properties ranging from houses that will sleep up to 12
people to cosy apartments just for 2.
Here’s just a small selection of the
properties on their books:
For the larger party in the heart of
Chelsea there’s a fabulous house, complete with roof garden, for £495 ($810)
per night sleeping 12, or a wonderful rambling 6 bedroom Victorian family
house in Kensington, which also sleeps 12, for £450 ($740) per night.
For something more exotic why not
stay on a luxury houseboat on the River Thames complete with grand salons,
fine furniture, four poster and canopied beds! It is of course fully
centrally heated. There are wonderful views up and down the river and
garaged car parking and access to a pool and a gym is included with this
rental which sleeps 6 and costs £195 ($320) per night.
For a smaller party try a modern
house decorated and furnished in traditional style, situated in a quiet
Chelsea backwater 5 minutes walk from South Kensington tube and Sloane
Square. It sleeps 5 and costs £180 ($280) per night. Alternatively, just 10
minutes walk from Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Westminster (Houses of
Parliament), there’s a comfortable modern apartment with its own car parking
and access to a communal gym, sauna and Jacuzzi, it also sleeps 5 and costs
£170 ($275) per night.
For just 2 or 3 people there’s a
wide selection ranging from top quality apartments in prime Knightsbridge
locations to budget accommodation in Notting Hill. One of the best, and
definitely one for the connoisseur – it’s been featured in USA Today as one
of the finest private accommodations available in London, is in the heart of
Knightsbridge in a quiet garden square, within 5 minutes walk of Harrods,
and it combines a wonderful location with antiques and furnishings of the
highest quality. It sleeps 2 and costs £150 ($245) per night.
For lesser budgets there’s a
practical modern flat in a popular South Kensington portered block, with one
bedroom + a sofa bed it sleeps 4 and costs £95 ($150) per night. Or, for 3/4
people, a quality modern house in a quiet Bayswater mews - great value at
£115 ($190) per night.
Full details of these and many other
properties, together with how to book and lots of useful information for
planning your London trip, can be found at Coach House London Vacation
