If you know about this special place in the Mexico City Airport, your layover might be the best part of the trip

My least favorite part of traveling is long layovers. Being stuck in an airport with overpriced hot dogs and pretzels the only culinary offerings. Getting drinks in flimsy paper cups. And listening to the annoying background noises.

But on a recent trip to Mexico, I found an oasis in the Mexico City Airport.

The Hilton Mexico City Airport, located right in the International Terminal.

Their parking lot is a runway. And although you can look out at the plans from most rooms, you will never hear an airport sound.

The best sounds you will hear is the music in the cozy bar..

They will hold your hand luggage while you relax in the restaurant or bar.  If you have a really long layover, consider “checking in” for eight hours for only $98 and get full use of the health spa, business office and more. (if you are as serious about being online as I am, it is probably worth checking in just for the free business center internet access).

Prices are surprisingly reasonable. Five of the delicious lunches prepared by a French chef are less than $10. Knowing this, who would stay in the airport when they could be dining elegantly?

My recommendation: Order their tequila sunrise. Relax. Order lunch. Relax, Your layover will soon seem way too short.
