Disenchanted Lovers, Singles and the Heartbroken welcomed at second annual Anti-Valentine's Day Ball

Share Breakup Tales, Dedicate Best Breakup Songs and Make Exes Jealous with Your Own Personal “Paparazzi” and Model Entourage

by Madelyn Miller, the TravelLady

Disenchanted lovers, singles and the recently heartbroken have a place to go this Valentine’s Day at The New York Helmsley Hotel’s Second Annual Anti-Valentine’s Day Ball on February 14th from 7-10 PM. Made for those whose Valentine’s Day dreams were smashed by a brutal text message or Post-it break-up, The Helmsley will host dismayed singles who want to rehash breakup horror stories and cathartically “tell it like it was” to others who understand.

Guests at the Anti-Valentine’s Day Ball will dance off the negative breakup energy to the sounds of the 80s hottest break-up songs like “You Give Love a Bad Name,” “Love Bites” and more. Additionally, they can actually dedicate these songs to their exes.

How to make your Ex Jealous

For those looking to take revenge a step further, The Helmsley will provide guests with the perfect, and fun, way to make their day: Make their exes jealous. Excruciatingly hot models, both male and female, will roam the room along with a bevy of paparazzi who are on hand to snap faux “new couple canoodling” photos for insta-emailing to an ex. Guests will also be able to upload these shots instantly to a shared Facebook or MySpace page.

Everyone You meet will be Available

It’s always possible that one could meet his or her match while trading heartbreak stories. New friends may quickly become lovers while enjoying an aphrodisiac, buffet menu and passed hors d’oeuvres by the Hotel’s acclaimed Chef John Walsh, along with a one-hour open bar with specialty cocktails served. Cost is $45 (includes food and complimentary cocktail hour) for one/ $75 for two. Tickets can be reserved in advance by calling 212-405-4222.

If you would like to make a quieter statement to your Ex

A friend told me her ex-husband sent her flowers for her birthday. I thought wow! Why would anyone divorce someone that thoughtful and loving? Then she told me he was gay and had run off to Florida with his much-older lover.  So what should she get him for his birthday? I found the perfect present for any Ex or anyone getting divorced. This is one of those products where a picture is worth a thousand words. And if you got a good settlement, or want to really splurge, you can order a matching toothpick holder for only ten dollars more. But somehow the toothpicks alone seem too small and this is a time to make a big gesture..
