Where to Get the Very Best
Chocolate Chip Cookies in the World
By Madelyn Miller
Some people might walk a mile for a Camel, but I would
go around the world for a great chocolate chip.
Fortunately,
I usually don’t have to travel to far to get one, because over the years I
have learned that DOUBLETREE HOTELS serve their guests the best chocolate
chip cookies in the world.
I am a self-proclaimed expert on chocolate chip
cookies. When I was restaurant reviewer for the MET MAGAZINE in Dallas years
ago, I created a research project for myself---find the best chocolate chip
cookie in Dallas. It was one of my favorite career opportunities. And when I
realized my favorite cookies were available at DOUBLETREE HOTELS all over
the world, I was in heaven. (actually, I was motivated to travel more)
Recently, I moved and am a bit farther away from my
local Doubletree. I have to drive a bit out of the way to get them.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, I just learned you can get them by mail
order. So if you don’t have time to visit a Doubletree Hotel, you can enjoy
the cookies in the privacy of your own home.
If you are reading this and know of a better chocolate
chip cookie, please email me and let me know your favorite. As a diligent
researcher, I will do my best to get anywhere in the world to taste the
cookies.
THE DOUBLETREE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE:
MORE THAN 115 MILLION SERVED TO GRATEFUL TRAVELERS
Doubletree Hotels, Suites, Resorts and Clubs have built
a reputation on a unique treat that keeps leisure and business travelers
coming back for more: its legendary chocolate chip cookie presented to each
guest at check-in. Synonymous with Doubletree hospitality, the cookie has
played a starring role in differentiating the Doubletree hotel brand from
its competition.
Following are a few “tid-bites” about the Doubletree
chocolate chip cookie:
-
Across North America, Doubletree gives out
approximately 29,000 chocolate chip cookies each day. That’s more than
10,500,000 each year!
-
Doubletree began giving out chocolate chip cookies in
the early 1980s, when many properties across the country used them as
treats for VIPs.
-
In 1995, Doubletree enlisted the services of
Nashville-based Christie Cookie Company to hold the brand’s secret recipe,
which ensures that the same, delicious cookie is delivered consistently at
every Doubletree property.
-
Every Doubletree chocolate chip cookie is baked fresh
daily at each property.
-
Each cookie weighs a hearty 2 ½ ounces and has an
average of 20 chocolate chips.
-
The Christie Cookie Company uses more than 580,000
pounds of chocolate chips each year for Doubletree’s cookies.
-
In June 2002, Doubletree gave its 100,000,000th
cookie!
-
To date, more than 115,000,000 cookies have been
served to delighted guests and customers
In the past two years, children participating in
Doubletree’s Teaching Kids to CARE program have donated more than 500,000
chocolate chip cookies to people ranging from doctors and nurses, police and
firefighters, to non-profit groups such as orphanages, food banks and
homeless shelters.
A sweet treat tin of Doubletree cookies can be shipped
anywhere in the U.S. and Canada by placing an order at
www.doubletreecookies.com.

GOOD DEEDS WITH CHOCOLATE
Chef Hilly Blondheim has put his culinary skills to good use and turned a
simple boyhood treat into a life-saving instrument in the fight against
breast cancer. Whether its sprinkled on top of fruit or ice cream, to
enhance the flavor of coffee or a smoothie, blended into waffle or pancake
batter, used in a chocolate martini, sampled as fondue, or simply to make
the best cup of hot chocolate you have ever tasted, the possibilities for
this gourmet chocolate mix are endless.
