Pampered Like A Sultan’s Bride

Giuliano Spa, Boston, MA

By Linda Eagleson

Imagine your lover massaging you with medicinal chakra muds from romantic Eastern Lands, breathing in steam infused with herbs and sensuous oils, listening to exotic, soothing music, and relaxing under twinkling starlight until gentle tropical rains wash away the heaviness of the soul. Feel the total connectedness of this intensely intimate moment, watching your lover swathed in pleasure as the two of you delight in the moment.  The Rasul treatment invites you to step into the exotic herbal steam temple, cleansing the respiratory system while revitalizing your intimacy, making it a perfect way for couples to ignite their romance, while reaping its healthy benefits.

When we were invited to experience the Signature Rasul Ceremony at Giuliano, the spa for Beauty and Wellness in Boston, neither one of us knew what to expect, except that it could only enhance our togetherness.  I wanted my husband and me to share this totally intimate experience as a new romantic adventure. We had tired of dining out, dancing and movies. We wanted to explore different avenues of coupleness that would heighten our romantic feelings for one another.

The staff of Giuliano greeted us with friendly faces at the front desk and directed us personally to our spa treatment.  They gave us warm, fluffy robes and cushiony slippers to adorn ourselves. The treatment room was designed as an Egyptian temple, with tropical tiled walls, a thousand star lights peeking through the dome of the ceiling, two comfortable, contoured chairs, soothing rainwater, and rhythmic Middle Eastern music.  The technician gave us a selection of colored medicinal chakra muds mixed specifically for different parts of the body, then left us to experience our coupleness while inhaling the steam, infused with pure, detoxifying herbs.

For the ceremony, you can either wear disposable undergarments that are supplied by the staff, or you can be nude.  We opted for nature’s way.   Paul and I applied the different colored medicinal charkas, starting with the face first and working our way down to our feet. It was as if we were finger painting each other’s bodies as the mud trickled through our fingers.  The soothing rains and star lit “sky” made us feel like royalty as we were bathed in the richness of the mud. Each of the different medicinal charkas soaked into our bodies while we enjoyed pleasing one another and detoxifying our bodies at the same time.

We sat for a long time in the thickening steam, relaxing and sipping cool water, occasionally moistening the mud from the running water in the chairs’ arm rests. Then, the lights brightened a little and our bodies were soothed by the warm waters that fell from the stars.  Our tensions were washed away whilst revitalizing our chi energy between us.

We stopped for a moment to enjoy some fresh, succulent fruit and cool water, supplied by the spa, before we were then whisked away to an adjoining suite where each of us had our own personal masseuse.

We disrobed and stepped into another aspect of our romantic spa treatment. Sharing a massage together was quite stimulating, as we could feel each other’s pleasure while our masseuses relieved what was left of tension in our muscles.  This experience enhanced our romantic feelings for one another even more as we were able to share our thoughts and feelings, together as the massage was happening.

The length of the massage was approximately 60 minutes and the Rasul ceremony was approximately 45 minutes.  Just enough time to make our bodies yearn for more.

We ended the day with a warm, relaxing shower in the elegant dressing room, which came complete with a wide variety of exotic and invigorating toiletries.  I chose the natural oils and body splash, since I felt this would complete the ceremony of connectedness with the earth. Bathing in the warm elegance of the oils, I felt like I had just been treated like a queen.

Both my husband and I had just experienced the ultimate in pleasure, which added to our stylish romantic weekend in Boston.  Reluctant as we were to leave the pleasures of the spa, we knew we had to, but we were closer and more in love then ever before.

The spa was started by L. Joyce Hampers in 1993, with the idea of providing a “one-stop shopping” for all of one’s needs.  Being conscious of the new movement of combining health, wellness and beauty, Hampers developed the idea of the day spa located in the midst of one of our biggest metropolises, Boston.  Throughout the growth of the spa, Hampers kept in mind the idea of creating different spa packages that would accommodate men, women and couples.  It was with this concept that she ventured the world to find the perfect couples treatment, that of the Rasoul Signature Ceremony for two. And boy, was she right!

Giuliano, the spa for Beauty and Wellness, is located at 338 Newbury Street, Boston, MA, 02115.  The spa offers a variety of services from hair styling, manicures and pedicures to complete spa packages.  Even their hours of operation are sensitive to the working families, with some nights being open to as late as 9:00 pm.   To make an appointment, please call 617-262-2220 &1-800-511-3886, or email for general information to info@giulianodayspa.com
