SWISS INTERNATIONAL AIR LINES
MARCH 1 MOVE TO TERMINAL 1 AT NYC’s
JFK AIRPORT:

Swiss International Air Lines will move to Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on March 1, 2007 (from Terminal 4).

“We look forward to our new home at Terminal One which is a step toward closer cooperation with our Star Alliance partner, Lufthansa,” said Steven Diggelmann, SWISS Area Manager, the Americas.

All SWISS flights arriving into and departing from JFK International Airport in New York will do so from Terminal One on March 1. Terminal One offers passengers the newest, most efficient and user friendly passenger facility at JFK. SWISS passengers will further enjoy the convenience and accessibility to SWISS’ three nonstop flights per day (2 to Zurich and one to Geneva).

Terminal One completed in 1998, is built on 36 acres and is an estimated 639,000 square feet offering passengers an open, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere prior to boarding and arriving. It is the first stop on the Air Train System, and first passenger terminal accessible from the JFK Expressway. A convenient multi-level vehicle parking garage is located just steps away from the terminal.

A retail shop atrium is centrally located along the passenger corridors offering the following specialty shops: electronics, newsstand, fashion wear, jewelry, and skin care and cosmetic products. International passengers can shop in one of the largest duty free “cash and carry” facilities at the NYC airport. Other Terminal 1 conveniences include:

  • a hotel desk, transportation desk & concierge desk

  • currency exchange counters, automated teller facilities

  • 9 food concessions (restaurants, bars, café style kiosks).

  • 10 retail concessions

  • 3 spa locations

  • 5 large baggage claim carousels for inbound baggage from arriving flights

  • 12 U.S. Customs interview booths

  • spacious departure level security check-point consisting of 4 screening lanes.

Where to eat
Florhof Restaurant.  The menu offers dishes in tune with the seasons. Directors Bridgette and Beat Schiesser explained that, “Whenever possible, we get our meat from the surrounding regions and only use products from certified biological farms where animals are kept in their natural environment. Our dishes are light and healthy and salt is used sparingly. This way the natural aromas of the vegetables and herbs are enhanced.”

Since March 2003, the Restaurant Florhof has been a certified member of “Gout Mieux” (a campaign of WWF Switzerland) and offers a number of dishes, which are produced exclusively with biological ingredients. These dishes are marked with the “Gout Mieux” label.
