A Valentine's Day to Remember

Set the Mood for Romance

Charleston, S.C.Charleston, South Carolina sets the mood for romance with moonlit strolls along lantern lit streets lined with antebellum mansions; gourmet picnics under the cool shade of ancient live oak trees, and horse drawn carriage rides along the waterfront. In the heart of the historic district , guests can enjoy afternoon and evening strolls by majestic antebellum homes, award winning restaurants, antique shops, sultry jazz clubs, and gardens dating back to the 17th century.

Over the years, the hotel has played its part in many romantic moments. Their Luxury Sales Managers are often called on to coordinate surprise engagements and romantic getaways for couples looking to re-ignite romance.

Charleston Place HotelAs Valentine's Day gets closer, they expect the number of calls from new and returning guests to increase. The Luxury Sales managers focus on creating one-of-kind memorable experiences based on the interests and preferences of each client. For Valentine's Day many guests call upon the staff's experience to help create an unforgettable experience.

Although, each experience is unique, the hotel's Luxury Sales Managers and concierges were polled to find out what romantic touches they often employ to set the mood. The list included:

  • Limousine service from the airport to the hotel with champagne and strawberries (first impressions are critical!)
  • Ordering the couples' favorite flowers, CDs, and wine & cheese (to await them in suite on arrival)
  • Arranging breakfast in bed with French-pressed coffees, chilled champagne and fresh squeezed orange juice, as well as the guest's preferred reading materials (to allow them to linger in luxury)
  • Booking relaxing "his and her" spa treatments at the hotel's European-style Spa (favorites include sea salt body wraps followed by full body massages)
  • Ordering a gourmet picnic and helping the couple select one of the city's top romantic spots to enjoy it
  • Coordinating special little extras that will immediately evoke romance, for example: rose petals on the sheets, candles, bubble bath, aromatherapy massage oil and books on poetry awaiting guests after turn-down
  • Discovering something new the couple can share together. Activities are varied but popular options include: sailing, ocean kayaking, wall climbing, deep sea fishing, cooking and art classes
  • Drawing on treasured memories. The best example involves a guest who booked the hotel's Riviera Theatre, a 1930's art deco movie theatre, for a private slide showing of he and his wife's last 25 years together. The moment took a little research and coordination but the affect was incredibly touching.

To help ensure a Valentine's Day to remember, the hotel offers a Sweetheart package at a cost of $1,900 per couple, which includes:

  • Two nights accommodation in a luxurious suite:
  • A beautiful bouquet of roses upon arrival
  • Crabtree & Evelyn in-room bath amenities including massage oil and bubble bath
  • A beautiful silver frame with the couple's favorite photo and a silver travel candle for keepsakes. A photo will be requested when making reservations
  • A private carriage tour of the city
  • Three-course dinner for two at Charleston Place's Mobil Four-star Charleston Grill, accompanied by a fine selection of vintage wines
