When the London Tourist Board surveyed
concierges at London hotels to find out the best places for romance, they
found their years of experience invaluable in pointing couples to the most
romantic places.
An
obvious choice for a romantic stroll is through one of London's beautiful
royal parks. With stunning gardens and a lovely view of Buckingham Palace,
St. James Park is considered the most romantic park in London. Swans
and tulips set the stage for a wonderful afternoon.
Concierges named renting a rowboat on the winding
Serpentine River in Hyde Park as an ideal way to propose marriage; others
picked the top deck of a boat sailing under Tower Bridge.
Photos are an important part of any trip to London,
and the British Airways London Eye was voted the #1 place to create a memory
on film. Upon entering the ride, a photo is taken and turned into a
souvenir, which is available for purchase when the "flight" ends.
In addition to the traditional responses, there were
quite a few answers given that only true locals would recommend for a
romantic setting. Some fun places to hide out with a loved one include
the maze at Hampton Court Palace, Hever Castle, and St. Paul's Cathedral of
the Royal Weddings. No matter what age you may be, there is an
abundance of romantic places throughout London; just ask your concierge.
