Kiss of the Dragon

By Madelyn Miller

In real estate, they say location is everything. In entertainment, I think it is all timing.

Kiss of the DragonAnd I saw KISS OF THE DRAGON at the right time. I had just come back from China and was very jet-lagged. This movie certainly kept me awake. It is fast-paced, compelling and has great comic relief combined with intense violence.

I always thought I hated action movies until I saw Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. But that really reminded me of a surreal ballet. KISS OF THE DRAGON is more down and dirty martial arts, more of a macho-type movie. Yet I saw it with a girlfriend who spent her mothering years driving her two daughters to ballet lessons, and she was as riveted to her seat as I was. Almost made me want to sign up for some kind of kung-fu lesson. ( I certainly was never that good at ballet.)

Jet Li in actionAction superstar Jet Li and internationally acclaimed filmmaker Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, The Professional) join forces on KISS OF THE DRAGON. This thriller revolves around a Chinese operative (Li) who goes to Paris on assignment, and becomes embroiled in a deadly conspiracy.

I am not going to tell you who dunit, because that would spoil the ending. Actually, at times it moved so fast, I was not sure who did it or which side they were on. But maybe that was because I was jet-lagged. This movie will definitely wake you up.
