Quack Attack!
Jackson, N.H.'s Annual Wildcat River Festival
The quack attack is back! The Annual Wildquack River Festival returns to Jackson Village Park. This wildly popular event attracts a large crowd each year, cheering on their ducks in a race down the Wildcat River for over 100 prizes. More than 2,000 yellow rubber ducks will float, bob and fight their way down the river to the finish line in an exciting and wacky race.
Run by the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, this event has grown larger and more popular each year. Longtime MC Rob Clark provides colorful commentary to the crowd on the minute by minute stats on the race. The ducks are put into the river and cascade wildly down Jackson Falls towards the Jackson Village Park. Dozens of "stuck duck" patrol staff stand by in the river, waiting to sweep ducks out into the main river if they get stuck on a rock or in weeds. As the ducks race towards the finish line, the anticipation of the crowd grows as one by one they cross the line at the end of the race in the Jackson Village Park. Prizes include $1000 for the first place duck, gift certificates, lodging, dining and merchandise from many area businesses, and a brand new mountain bike for the last duck to cross the finish line.
The day-long event starts at 11:00 AM, with children's games, a dunk tank, Bobo the clown, an interactive Children's magic show, commemorative t-shirts, a live remote with 104.5 oldies station, with the Wildcat Duck, an outdoor barbecue, a pre-race parade and the actual duck race with a post time of 1:30 PM. Immediately following the race is the awards ceremony, featuring the awarding of prizes and a wacky duck calling and walking contest for participants.
Duck Tickets are $5 each and are available now at Jackson Area businesses, the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce and in the Jackson park the morning of the race. You do not have to be present to win. In addition, there is no charge for admission to the park that day. Sponsors of the 12th Annual Wildquack River Festival are as follows: 1785 Inn, Christmas Farm Inn, Eagle Mountain House, Luxury Mountain Getaways, Paul Mayer Real Estate, Red Fox Pub, Storyland, White Mt. Cider, Whitneys' Inn, Wildcat Mountain and 104.5 Oldies Station.
