The festivities continue on Sunday, August 19 with The Music at the Park Concert Series. This will be the final free concert of the summer held at the base of Winter Park Resort. It will feature Emmy award-winning singer/songwriter, Jim Salestrom and friends. It will include songs and memories in a salute to John Denver. For more information call (970) 726-1514. Finally, on Friday and Saturday, August 25-26, The Winter Park Resort's Oktoberfest will take place. This event was created to capture the spirit of a traditional Bavarian festival at the base of Winter Park Resort, and will feature, beer gardens, authentic live German music, dancing, food, and specialty retail vendors. Colorado Brewers, including H.C. Berger and Tommyknocker will offer sampling opportunities. Vendors will sell food, clothing, and arts and crafts. For families, there will be a Kiddie Karnival with amusement rides and base area activities such as Alpine Slide (German Luge), climbing walls (Matterhorn), and mini golf. Things kick-off on Saturday, August 4, with The Music at the Park Concert Series. Come and enjoy the big band swing sounds of Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman with a tinge of John Phillips Sousa at this free concert featuring Full Circle. For more information call (303) 316-1514. Then, on Saturday, August 11, The Rocky Mountain 16th Annual Wine, Beer, and Food Festival will take place. This popular festival kicks off with Festival Dinners at local restaurants on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights. Beginning at 11:00 a.m., guests can attend a beer seminar followed by a wine seminar at noon, then sample hundreds of fine wines, a selection of domestic and imported beer, and the favorite recipes of local chefs from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Proceeds benefit the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD).
