Hawaiian Hideaway

Spring Discount at Hanalei Colony Resort

Hanalei Colony Resort, a beachfront condominium resort located on Kauai’s lush north shore, has announced a 20% discount for spring travel, March 1 through May 31, 2002.  The 20% Spring Discount is taken off the resort’s rack rates, which ordinarily range from $160 to $300 per night. The Spring Discount requires a minimum stay of three nights and is not combinable with any other special offer.

Hanalei Colony has long been regarded as one of Kauai’s most popular beach hideaways. The 5-acre low-rise property is located on a long curve of golden beach near the end of the road in Haena, Kauai’s northernmost town. Past the charming town of Hanalei, travelers cross a series of picturesque one-lane bridges as they continue towards the end of the road--and Hanalei Colony. It is a magnificent journey, bordered on one side by emerald mountains laced with waterfalls, on the other side by stretches of white sand beaches and aquamarine seas.

Nestled on the beach against a backdrop of awe-inspiring mountains, Hanalei Colony is a favorite among travelers who enjoy its secluded, peaceful setting amidst Kauai’s spectacular natural beauty. The resort offers 48 two-bedroom condominium units with fully equipped kitchens and private lanais, all with sweeping views of Hanalei Bay or the lush, towering mountains of “Bali Hai” fame. The beach is quite literally at your doorstep. Described as “unspoiled and unplugged”, Hanalei Colony prides itself on its restful atmosphere.  The units do not have televisions, stereos, or phones, and there is nothing to distract guests from enjoying long walks on the beach, leisurely mornings, stunning sunsets, and each other.

Resort amenities include a swimming pool, Jacuzzi spa, barbecue and picnic areas, a guest laundromat, and twice-weekly maid service. The resort staff takes pleasure in offering personal service and extra touches that make guests feel at home. Fresh flowers are placed in every unit, and special requests are welcome--particularly for those guests who are celebrating a special occasion. In addition, guests are invited to a weekly complimentary continental breakfast and an afternoon mai tai party in the resort’s beachfront “Ohana Room”.

Hanalei Colony guests are encouraged to relax and enjoy the surrounding area, known for its natural beauty, tranquil ambiance, and sheer romance: emerald peaks against scarlet-gold sunsets, a full moon glistening on the sea, soft evening breezes scented with plumeria,  tropical forests shrouded in mountain mists,  the sound of the sea lapping the shore, the warmth of the sand beneath your toes. These are all part of the Hanalei Colony experience.

The surrounding area of Ha’ena is peaceful, but not boring. Sightseeing, cultural and sports opportunities abound. Three ancient caves, created from lava tubes, are easily located from the two-lane highway as you make your way towards the end of the road, and the remains of heiau (ancient places of worship) are scattered throughout the area, spawning many tales of Hawaiian legends and lore. Hiking trails are abundant, including the world-famous Napali Coast trail. The beaches in Ha’ena are incomparable,  offering swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and sunbathing. Ocean sports such as sailing, scuba diving, surfing, windsurfing, and kayaking are just a few sandy steps away, although during the winter months beachgoers might have to share the ocean with the humpback whales who frolic in the warm waters offshore. Championship golf, horseback riding, and tennis, as well as a host of shopping and dining options, are all within a short drive of the resort.

Hanalei Colony Resort is independently owned and managed.  For reservations or information, call toll-free from Hawaii, the U.S. mainland and Canada, 1-800-628-3004.  Visit the hotel’s website at www.hcr.com or email aloha@hcr.com
