LanChile Introduces
New Inflight Entertainment System
By Madelyn Miller
How does an airline differentiate itself from
competitors? What makes a passenger choose one carrier over another? In
today’s competitive environment, passengers are looking for the best overall
experience, including safety, convenient check-in, VIP lounges, personal
inflight service and comfort, and onboard product offerings.
I recently flew to Peru on LanChile and was so
impressed by their seats. They reclined farther than any I remember in any
other business class. I’d like to tell you more about them, but I slept the
whole way. I can summarize my experience in one word. Comfort.
I can tell you a little about LanChile’s new inflight
entertainment system.
LanChile continually continues to be at the forefront
with the introduction of its new inflight entertainment system available in
all three classes of services. From video- and music-on-demand, to video
games and new seats throughout the aircraft, this new system is the latest
generation of inflight technology available in the industry. The new system
is available on LanChile’s young long-haul fleet of Boeing 767s and Airbus
A340s servicing flights from its U.S. gateways to South America.
“There is no one element that determines a passenger’s
preferred airline, but rather a combination of many details that create the
best overall travel experience for our passengers.” said Roberto Bianchi,
LanChile’s Vice President North/Central America and Asia. “Our new inflight
entertainment system and new seats, combined with the warm hospitality of
our entire staff, are just a couple examples of how LanChile is continuing
to surpass passengers’ expectations and continue to be the preferred carrier
to South America.”
LanChile’s new entertainment system and onboard
services include:
-
Video-on-demand Similar to having a portable DVD
player, this feature allows each passenger to select from a variety of
movies, start a movie when they want to, pause or switch movies. Each
passenger has complete control of their viewing options using individual
remote controls located at each seat. LanChile offers first and business
class passengers a selection of eight movies-on-demand in various
languages, including at least one movie in Japanese and German. Four
movies-on-demand are available in economy class. There are also two
short-subject channels available in all classes.
-
Music-on-demand A selection of 12 music CDs are
available, and like the video-on-demand, passengers have total control of
their listening options. In addition, LanChile offers a selection of eight
10 audio channels depending on class of service and aircraft.
-
Video games A choice of 11 games include
Minesweeper, Tetris, Twins Cafe, Hangman, Solitaire, Blackjack, Poker,
Chess, Backgammon, Othello and Checkers.
-
New satellite telephones are located in the seats in
all classes of service on the new Airbus A340 aircraft.
-
Completely new economy class seats further add to the
overall comfort of flights and feature individual video monitors with
remote controls, computer ports, adjustable headrests, and leg rests.
