What’s Cooking? Lots of Maui Onions!
It’s Time to Enter the Maui Onion Recipe Contest
to Be Held at the 13th Annual Maui Onion Festival
If you love onions you won’t want to miss the 13th
Annual Whalers Village Maui Onion Festival! Anyone with a great sweet
onion recipe is encouraged to compete in the festival’s recipe contest, too.
The Maui Onion Recipe Contest takes place at noon during the festival on
August 3rd (Professionals only) and August 4th
(Amateurs only) near the Whalers Village main stage in Kaanapali, Maui.
Expert judges include Brickwood Galuteria (Hawaii’s
Kitchen), Wanda Adams (Honolulu Advertiser), Chef David Paul
Johnson and Kristine Snyder who is a multiple Maui Onion Recipe Contest
winner, a Pillsbury Bake-off winner and recent winner of the Sutter Home
‘Build a Better Burger’ competition! The Maui Onion Recipe Contest has two
categories: 1.) Pupu/Dessert and 2.) Entrée dishes. Winning recipes will
earn Whalers Village gift certificates—$100 for first place, $50 for second
place and $25 for third place—and lots of publicity. There is no cost to
enter but entries must be pre-registered by July 29. Multiple recipes must
use separate entry forms. All entries must include Maui Onions, of course.
It’s never been easier to enter the Maui Onion Recipe
Contest with a new ‘on line’ entry form. Go to the website at
www.whalersvillage.com for
an entry form and information on the event. Forms are also available at
local markets, UH-CTAHR and other locations…or by calling (808) 875-0457.
For general info on the Maui Onion Festival, call (808) 661-4567 ext. 4.
