8th Annual Jazz Festival

Vail's 8th Annual Jazz Festival culminates in September with the anticipated return of the festival's Labor Day Weekend Party, Aug. 30 - Sept. 2. The Labor Day Weekend Party will feature some of the world's greatest jazz musicians performing over 24 hours of music during the holiday weekend. The events take place at various times throughout the weekend and feature such acts as the Monty Alexander Trio; the Clayton Brothers Quintet; the Wycliffe Gordon Sextet; the Benny Green - Russell Malone Duo; the Rhonda Scott Quartet; Marlena Shaw and her Trio and the Mile High Chapter Choir. The party is hosted by the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort & Spa, and brings together some of the best jazz musicians in an intimate, cabaret-style setting for a rare blend of jazz. VAIL CELEBRATES TRADITIONAL BAVARIAN OKTOBERFEST; OFFERS "THE FULL FOAM" LODGING PACKAGE
During the weekends of Sept. 13-15 and Sept 21-22, Vail will put on the lederhosen for its annual Oktoberfest celebration. Guests will experience a traditional Oktoberfest celebration in the beautiful alpine setting of the Vail Valley.  Sounds of live oompah-pah music will fill the air and there will be a variety of other musical and street performers. Traditional German cuisine prepared by some of the valley's most popular restaurants will be on hand, complemented by the finest German bier from Hacker-Pschorr and some of Europe's finest wines. SAME FANTASTIC GOLF, NEW FALL RATES AT VAIL GOLF CLUB
With cool temperatures, beautiful fall colors and limited crowds, the Vail Golf Club is now offering an additional reason to hit the links. Beginning in August and carrying over throughout the rest of the fall golf season, the Vail Golf Club will be offering incredible late-season golf specials. Every Sunday through Thursday, beginning at 12:00 p.m., golfers can play 18 holes on Vail's scenic course for just $65 (including cart.) In Sept., golfers can play for an all-the-time $50 rate, $65 with cart. A TASTE OF ITALY COMES TO VAIL DURING A FESTIVAL ITALIANO
As an international destination, Vail's unique community has drawn its guests and residents from many parts of the world. Sept. 7-8, the village will ring with the sounds of Italy during the Festival Italiano in a celebration to enjoy authentic foods, entertainment shopping and fun. The festival will take place along Meadow Drive, and will enable visitors to enjoy traditional Italian foods, specialties, wines, beers, cheeses and desserts. The weekend will also feature authentic Italian music and dancing, cooking demonstrations and food contests, as well as children's activities, bicycle races, street vendors, shopping, gallery walks, an Italian car/scooter exhibition and the Vail Farmer's Market. RUBBER DUCKIES TAKE A SWIM IN VAIL'S GORE CREEK DURING ANNUAL LABOR DAY DUCK RACE
On Labor Day, Vail's Gore Creek will once again become a sea of bright yellow, as thousands of rubber ducks compete for charity and the entertainment of the enormous crowd in attendance. A Labor Day tradition in Vail, residents and guests can purchase ducks to race in their name for $5 per duck. The competition is put on by the Vail Rotary and proceeds will go to charities including scholarships for local youth. Prizes for the quickest ducks to the finish include a Lake Tahoe vacation, a Rock Resorts vacation, a Vail Resorts season ski pass and much more.
