October 5, 2002 in Paris - A Night to Remember
Join the fun for the city’s first annual "Sleepless
Night"
Paris City Hall invites Parisians, visitors, night owls
and early risers alike to participate in the city’s first ever "official"
sleepless night. The fun begins at nightfall (7:22 p.m.) on October 5, on
into the witching hour and through the wee hours of Sunday, October 6. The
"Nuit blanche" as it's called, will feature concerts, film
projections shows, happenings and spectacles through the night in unusual,
mysterious or unexpected locations throughout the first to 11th districts of
Paris. Museums, public libraries, monuments, places of worship, parks and
gardens, movie theaters, hospitals, universities and more will be open for
visiting or will host special events. Admire the Vietnamese fashion show at
the Palais Royal, where models will showcase their traditional dress. Miss
the Algonquin? The ceremonial rooms of Paris City Hall will resonate with
piano music and song. Or go to the Garde Républicaine headquarters for the
concert performed by the French President's mounted ceremonial guards, then
drop by the Louvre for a 3:00 a.m. salute to the Mona Lisa. For upcoming
